Stumpjumper Collection

Your thread inspired me to take my 1990 black Stumpjumper apart! I have owned it since 1991 and completed some serious MTB trails in Surrey (Leith Hill) and many green lanes in Kent. The bearings are shot and the DX chain set worn so badly the HG chain broke. It is very original part from the mark1 version of Gripshift (The plastic has fatigued) - the front wheel got replaced when a I a big off at Bedgebury off road track (I walked like John Wayne for a week after that!!) Thanks and wish me luck with that bottom bracket that has not been removed since new! I am assuming the drive side is left handed thread??? Aitch DC7ACD42-F5C1-4FE5-B65F-A2A6A43B74A8.jpeg

To get an answer you might do better to post your question in a separate thread as this one is mostly a running commentary on my own Stumpjumper Collection.

I found one of these virtually unused in a bike shop here in southern France. Rode it at MM then sadly sold it on here before emigrating down here. I wonder where that one is now.

Some detailed shots of my 1989 Stumpjumper Comp.
Ready for pics today, and will be riding over the next few months to decide which of these two 1989 Stumpies will be kept offroad-worthy.
This Comp model is borrowing quite a few parts from the ivory/burgundy one in the above pics.
