Hey guys

So I got my dreambike, but the rear mech hanger is bent back
Frame is Nivacrome and hanger is Ritchey.. what do I do?
Have seen many vids where people bend back a hanger, do I dare?
My first thought was to heat it a bit before bending, would that help?

Thanks a lot for your help :)

screw a wheel axle thread complete with wheel onto it. Warm it up a little and give it a tweak. The wheel lets you know immediately where it's at in all planes.

Re:

Do it slowly, it will stress the metal less. Using the axle helps with alignment as suggested. I've also heard you can use an axle in the mech hanger and use it to align that if that's the side that needs the adjustment.

Re:

Sorry for being dense , but it is not clear whether the gear hanger is
part of the dropout or a separate item ?

If its part of the dropout , one solution is to use 2 spare axles

Fit the 1st axle in place of the rear hub and using 4 suitable nuts
and washers , tighten up the nuts at the normal OLN width

Now fit the 2nd axle where the mech would normally fit , again using
2 nuts and washers . Ideally this axle should be 'inside' the frame
and not stick out

You should now be able to eyeball the 2 axles and twist the 2nd
as required to end up exactly parallel with the first from all directions

I have done this 'cold' on several occasions

Like this suggestion :) Will have a go! I'm just a bit worried when it's such a rare frame, you don't wanna mess it up.. take some comfort though in knowing a good frame builder could mount a new dropout if I still manage to crack the damn thing :p

Thanks a lot for your time and help guys :)
