Tell me straight. I can take it :D

I was happily cycling along the road coming up to a set of lights. A few cars overtook me coming up to the lights, but as the lights had not long turned green there was a bunch of slow moving traffic slowly accelerating away from them. As I was bowling along with a following wind I undertook one or two of the accelerating cars (which had only recently overtaken me so was aware of my presence). I was doing 20-ish, they were doing 15 and accelerating. One of them took exception to this and honked his horn behind me. My first thought was I'd undercut him as he'd wanted to turn left at the lights, but he hadn't been indicating if that's what he wanted to do. Anyway, he didn't turn left, so it must have been because I came up the inside.

I gave him one or two none-too-polite gestures as he overtook. A bit further up the road another set of lights and a queue of traffic pulling away and he's put his car right up against the kerb deliberately so I have to overtake on the outside - something I don't like to do when cars are accelerating as it leaves me exposed. I shout sarcastically at him "I suppose I have to go round you then".

About 1/2 mile later he catches up with me and shouts back "yes you do". Once again I signal my displeasure none-too-discretely. And that's it...

Now I normally I only undertake when traffic is relatively free moving and to overtake leaves me exposed on the outside. If traffic is backed up and/or it's clear some cars are turning left, I always overtake.

What would you do?

no - an annoying gold coloured Honda small MPV thing - so anonymous I can't remeber what they are. Old man with what looks like his older mother in the passenger seat.

SAme if the queue was stationary - you would move up to the front. If the guy was not turning left, then he is a cheese.

I don't flip off motorists piloting cars which outweigh my vihicle by a factor of 200. But that's just how I roll...

that's what I figure. I mean I could ride up the middle of the road if I wanted making it hard for him to overtake, but I don't. You give a little, take a little.

Given the way the world we live nowadays, sometimes it's better let it go, sticking rude gestures dont always work, all you need a nutter with a knife in the car, if he stopped and got out of car

After reading your views, I think you didnt do anything wrong by passing the cars on inside of the flowing traffic, I am no different than you as still do that myself, when I see a car block close the pavement, I tend to stop or hop on pavement if the traffic is not moving and no people on pavement, I dont overtake on outside and be in the middle of the road, I think that is dangerous.

BTW, I think the motorist behave an a$$hole!

Just my 2 cents!

I have to say I never 'feedback' to jerkoff drivers, purely because New Jersey isn't exactly biker friendly and no-one obeys the rules anyway..

A few months ago, this doush-bag was driving towards me and I saw him open his window and throw a bloody water bottle at me.. I just ignored him and hoped he didn't come back, as he was obviously a sandwich short of a picknick..

Be careful out there people...

yes normally I'm pretty mild-mannered and not taken to such gestures, but this bloke just got my goat

If I've done something stupid and I get honked, then fair enough, but I didn't think I had
