Am I so out of touch with modern cycling?

Sorry to say but its mostly the jeans-guys that are always very unrelaxed and derogatory about "the others". They DO care and have any "opinion". Not the black super-men in their NALINI BiB spandex tights ;) They mostly just dont care.

"I bought my first MTB and did my first race in the late 80s - I guess you werent even born yet? Now what do YOU kid want in your all black Rose online shop dress?"

So cringe ...

On the flip side. Maybe the person riding along , is sick of people and simply wants to exercise in peace without having to wave every 2 mins at every passing cyclist.

I do acknowledge riders if I’m crossing paths with someone who looks like they are out for a leisure ride or if they gesture towards me. On a sunny summers day I simply won’t bother as I’d be like a nodding dog. But if I’m out in the depths of winter , freezing my balls off - and I see another poor soul doing the same - I will deffo give a nod of mutual idiocy.

But just because someone is riding a bike , doesn’t suddenly make us amigos. Imagine if every car driver wanted a wave as they pass you , and also needed to have a look at what your wearing 😂
i am usually so spaced out on a ride, i don't even acknowledge myself. too many drugs in my youth

I sometimes wave, or nod. I can see who's out for fun and who's on their way somewhere usually. Most people are c#*nts anyway, whether on a bike or not. Equally, most people aren't c#*nts at all, once you know where they're coming from- but we tend live in our own subjective bubbles a lot of the time. Getting out there cycling helps, which is perhaps why we do it? One thing I do know though- you're all proper c#*nts:p

I don’t really mind, just think if someone has made the effort to get out then good for them. I could fit in to all of those categories too. As winter approaches I end up looking more like a tadpole on a bike just because the sort of stuff that keeps you warm/dry/not boiling in the bag mostly are that colour/fit.
Generally I do like to wave or nod at others, depends on the circumstances. Country lane middle of nowhere I’d greet anyone capable of saying hello back. Middle of Cambridge, well I’d get a stiff neck if I even just looked at every cyclist!

Did get me thinking I’m a much nicer person on a bike than in a car. Put me in a metal box with four wheels and I’m suddenly intolerant, impatient and anger quickly. The only sort of waving I’d do then is the special sort you do when people try and undertake you.
