Got my Phd (´06 I believe) ready just before Christmas.
Couldn't source a decent canti fork with a long enough steerer. A compromise was a cheap alu disc fork.
Some parts are sourced second hand. DT Swiss front wheel, Bontrager TLR rear, 105 cranks, X9 RD + X0 shifter, TRP front disc caliper, Shimano CL disc, cheap'o seat post and Ritchey stem
New parts are compressionless brake hoses, narrow wide chainwheel (CUES), brake handles, rear v-brake, Ergotec handlebars and SCHW tires (TLR) C40front / 35rear
Scales says just around 10 kg - not bad for a beater. Paint had a lot of alu corrosion bubbles but I brushed it clean in places and gave it a cover of primer and white smooth Hammerite.
First idea was to run it as a cheap dropbar gravel bike. Had a friend ready to weld on a disc tab but the layout of the chain stays doesn't allow room for a brake disc. So flatbar it is .. for now at least. I might build a rear wheel with a SA roller brake and cassette body hub and do a hybrid'kind'a gravel bike.
