Shimano HG54 chain, won't cut right

Well I fitted this chain a few months back and recently fitted a larger front chain ring so now the chain is a bit too small
Old one had was damaged and my mate gave me another chain ring for free

I am sad and always keep my chain off cuts

This chain for some reason now won't cut, it just gets well tough and then the rivet brakes rather than pushing out as it should do

I've tested it on two other chains just now and they are fine, pushes rivet out as normal

hopefully I'm being a dumbarse, it cut fine when it was fitted

You aren't being a dumbarse at all. Shimano chains are now all with the flush rivets which are a horror to drive out. You always need a quick link or the Shimano pin to rejoin them.
