I have an old hope ti style screw-on hub in my sale thread. It has a 130mm road axle in, if that matters. Now, I'm assuming it was designed and built with 7/8 speed in mind, given the age.

I have been asked "I'm doing a retro build but want to use my 10 speed campag. Can these wheels be used with campag 10 speed?"

I don't know, was my honest first answer.
Part of me is saying yes they should take any screw on freewheel cassette.
Other bits are saying no, a 10 speed cassette is likely to be wider than the 7 or 8 speed this probably was designed for, isnt it?

Over to you guys, any experience of this?

Re:

Interesting one, it's something that I have thought about as well!

10 speed freewheels are out there, but they seem to be mainly intended for e-bikes, so you may struggle to find suitable ratios for road bike use perhaps? You will also need to try and somehow source a longer axle (could be tricky for an old Hope hub) and the wheels will definitely need to be redished.

Hope that this helps :)

Shimano spaced 10 speed freewheels are like rocking horse shit (and all i've seen are huge, 11-36 etc)

Campag spaced i can't find anywhere.
So I'd say (with 98% confidence) no.

I'd guess (with 99% confidence) that your seller is confused with the definition of freewheel and freehub.

(Googling freewheel gets you a 50/50 mix of freewheels and cassettes)

And you seem slightly confused between cassette, freehub and freewheel definitions too.
