Retrobike Touring.

Great stuff! What's everyone's wish list this year?
I was to be in Normany last week, taking friends on their first tour along the D-Day beaches.

Now it's bikepacking locally top of my list. With little chance of non-UK travel, the moment the lockdown lifts I hope for a few overnighters.

That sounds awesome, is it a tour from Utah through Sword or more?
Cheers,

I've done it a few times: Portsmouth to Ouistreham, then along all the way to Juno and beyond. There is a write up in this thread on page 29.
Page 47 has a trip to Utah beach and Ste Mere Eglise for the Airborne assault last year, looping from Cherbourg.

Re:

I think some 24/48 hr sojourns may be as much as I can hope for this year. Had a couple of days rising booked in for the start of April (and the weather was great, typical!) but that was postponed, obviously.

I can definitely recommend this book as some lockdowns touring inspiration, not that most people would set out to do this ride, but it’s a good read nonetheless.

Good choice! Got “Atlas Biker” but not this one...

More essential Lockdown reading:

Re:

If I get laid off, after the restrictions are lifted I’m off on tour.

I cleaned the whole bike and fitted a new chain and chainring in preparation. I also regreased the hubs and headset. I’m not being negative about my job prospects, just well prepared :D

Hi All

I just thought, I'm selling what is pretty much the perfect Retro touring frame on Ebay:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202972580055 ... 1555.l2649

With a paint job like that no one will steal it at least hehe. But seriously, it has great old school geometry and all the mudguard and rack mount requirements at the back for touring.

Don't forget to click on my 'ITEMS FOR SALE' link in my signature as I'm selling other Retro goodies.

Re:

That Trek you're selling is seriously nice, gutted it's too big for me.

I've been grappling with a KHS Montana Team frame I have for the past 8 months. It's so nice, but I stripped the paint back to the raw metal which worries me for touring; and it has been a right pain finding solid, 1" threaded forks with a large enough a-c (originally came with suspension), although I've got some sweet chromed spinners on the way.

Hoping to get it finished by next weekend and do some overnighters based out of East London soon!
