Do any of you have any plans to travel somewhere hot over the winter months?

Off to sunny Spain after Christmas, have a friend who lives in the mountains inland from Barcelona: Miravet is also in that plan.

Rk.

Re:

On a beautiful day like today (crisp, warm, signs of spring) I'm dreaming of getting away from it all on a little tour.

Last year I was on the '94 Cannondale, with 1.5" "road" tyres (eg, slick). However this year I'm thinking of building my old Kona up with some bigger rubber, and taking to the bridleway's & fire roads. Route TBC - I'm thinking the Pennine Bridleway as it's within riding distance, but there again I could quite easily get down to Wales.......

Anyone else getting a build on, or planning a tour?

No builds (my Marin is fairly unchanged in the past 10 years apart from adding the dyno front wheel).
Tour-wise I'm planning something with No1 son after his GCSEs finish. Thoughts are: Lon las Cymru, another trip in Normandy, or Dieppe on to a couple of the Tour De France stages in Cambrai and Epernay.

Any plans for this year ladies and gentlemen?

I'm planning a jaunt with the wife along the Trans Pennine Trail to Penistone for an over night camping trip on the bikes. Iv'e done this route three times now and have loved it every time. I have to get a bike built for the wife though as her Specialised FSR-XC is not the right kind of bike for the job. She'll be needing a hard tail. Erm............

Anyhoo. Let us know what your'e up to this year.

Maybe I'll build the wife a tourer around a 1980's Rockhopper or a Muddy Fox courier with some front suspension.

Actually, what am I thinking, I'll just gear up her current work bike for the job (Thanks Hullborn BTW), it's perfect for the job, I'll just fit a set of Pace bouncey forks on it and it'll be good to go, or maybe my Marzocci XC700's, with a move away from the single speed configuration as well, obviously ! Hhhmmm...I can see a nice Deore DX based groupset on it. STX-RC wheels. Deore thumbies....hhmmm...I love old bikes hehe

6 days booked in France in July, Eurostar to Lille and back, out to the TdF and the WW1 battlefields with No1 son.
Bike and bivi trip to Dartmoor in August
I need to try and do a couple more sneaky overnighters, but kids' GCSEs etc are getting in the way a bit this year.

That’s cheating. Get them to sit them themselves.
