Rebuild of 96 Zaskar or Pantera with history.

I would customise one for the commute: rigid forks, slicks, mudguards and rack with cheap durable components like Deore to get covered with road salt and worn out. You will be faster and more comfortable. You can then build the other as a proper best bike for off road.
 
I keep changing my mind with these bikes - too many choices.

Now it's looking like I'll build the Zaskar as is to make sure I like the ride first, as there is a chance the 19" frame will be too large for me at just under 6 foot.

If it fits and feels ok then it will be built up with front shocks and a mix of XT/XTR.

The Pantera may well end up with a road based build, similar to the last Zaskar that I converted to road use.
This one I had from new (as a frame) and it saw many different builds.
I was happiest with it as a lightweight mtb proper so that is where I will stay with the Zaskar.



Should never have sold that beauty :(
