No one as theyd be the only ones who knew what they were on about!

It's in relation to the 2 dictionary munchers trying to out do each other with fancy vocabulary.

Your insight is limited then, as there are many areas of society in which minorities are under-represented, and it should not be a case of waiting until things find a natural balance.

We either believe in equality and go about seeking it, or we sit on our hands and argue that the best 'man' for every job should be selected, from the perspective of the employer.
This all comes down to what I said previously - if the weight of legislation, and indeed the thrust of the ethos is to break down the walls, and effectively say "there is no difference, that's why you can't discriminate" then why should it matter, and why would it make sense to do it conditionally. If it's the correct thing to do and mandate in society then it should be about doing the right thing, not simply pandering to lobby groups.

surely the best man for the job should be selected because they are the best for the job

not because the meet the criteria of the quotas set by lefty do good loonys

The civil rights movement is no mere lobby group.

We had the first Catholic speaker in my lifetime.

We had the first black president.

These things are indicators of a new type of society, one that realises there are inequalities that should not continue.

There are plenty who meet the basic requirements for the force, it makes sense to take those who fulfil the need to balance the make up of such with the society it serves.

Very typical to hear the remarks of one who is part of that force, as his remarks tie in very neatly with the type of attitudes that have held everything back for generations.

Given equal abilities, the candidate who fulfils the need for diversity should always be taken. Simples.
