Repack Rider:

Interesting, it is quite obvious that Doug Bradbury did drugs (I suspect he did heaver stuff also by the worn look of his face). Gary Fisher is also very obvious (is he gay BTW?, I am thinking of his strange "gay"-looking suits he wears at bike shows, never met him so I can not judge him outside of pics).

Do you know if Zap Espinoza did the hashis thing too? seemes like someone who is no stranger to trips. Then again Tinker Juarez comes to mind too but I would be very surprised if he did drugs (he was in the Volvo/Cannondale team also.. . hmmm).

Gary Klein? (does not look like a drug abuser but would be groundbreaking news if he had an itch for smoking back in the day).

It would be very interesting to know if JT touched anything cocaine or smoking stuff since he was a well payed racer and had connections with Doug Bradbury (he got special forks from him, maybe filled with DB's
special leaves?).

WTF ! Daily Mail infiltrates Retro Bike! ..
-Some context and perspective, PLEASE!!

In Ja-ryme Ritchey...and Disney are friends indeed.
But Breeze and da-weed gotta be in league?

I always thought she was just nasty. There were very few pro riders back in the day that single handidly turned me off of their sponsor's gear, but she was one of them. That whole dead fish around her neck thing... way too much effort spent on trying to be different, rather than just being better.

Sad? yes. Am I surprised?....nah.

+1 couldn't have been said any better.

Missy is no child molester, so your opinion and subsequent action is/were a bit extreme.

I think you underestimate the marketing engine. A consumer could (and does...all the time) disregard a brand based on whim or personal reaction or fuzzy feelings and hairs on the backs of their necks...like me...and never be the worse off for it....like me. Could be an aversion to a brand caused by the extreme, like your example of child molestation by a figure central to an add campaign. Could be a pretty mild aversion, like being irritated by the Taco Bell Chihuahua or the Quizno's Hampster and chosing to eat someplace else.

Yeti never appealed to me. Not because they made crap...but rather beause they perpetuated a team image that I thought was a little stupid. Giove was a central character to that image. That's it.

Did I miss out on the best and only option in quality aluminum mountain bikes by passing on that ARC and buying a Rascal instead? Was I really putting myself at a disadvantage by not buying into Yeti's hard-core box-van image? Like I said...nah.

It's not like I hated Jordan to the point that I gave up shoes, or the Chihuahua so much that I gave up tacos...or even that I disliked Giove to the point that I gave up bikes. I just chose to buy something else.

C'mon man...Missy Giove would be the first person to own up to the idea that she was a polarizing figure back in the day. People loved her or they hated her. I just didn't feel the love.

cool...seriously, I just reacted to the tone of your first post. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, you and I included. I have to agree that she was a polarizing figure.
Though if anyone was turned on or off to yeti/GT because of her, I'd say more were turned on.
Also, I took issue, with your comment on her "trying" to be different, when perhaps she just is.

That said, it's tough to kick someone when they're down...rather, it's easy, and I don't want to do it.

but we're cool ;)

Myles Rockwell was busted for drugs too (also former Yeti rider).

They were both on Volvo-Cannondale too. Uh-oh, conspiracy?

Missy used to radiate with health, -there's no way she was much of a 'head BITD

I think you mistook the 'radiate health' for a full on stoned-to-the-bone-buzz.

No surprise to any mtber having some experience or background with drugs, that's quite a weight though. Similar to Chris Lewis and the coke thing :(

Everyone who's into the idea ignores this, or assumes that it'll be 'home' grown and controlled, but that's bull -there'll always be 'imports'. I don't see much home produced hash for example.

Last time I looked into this in detail (about 4 years ago) at least 85% of the UK dope market was domestically produced (home office stats) and consequently there's plenty of home grown hash about since it's a by-product of cropping and processing "skunk" but it's usually kept by the growers as a perk of the job or passed on to mates. It's often awesomely good.

I agree domestic production doesn't mean it's clean though (although home grown does unless the grower is daft since it's grown by the consumer), mass producers grow the heavy-yielding strains that don't taste particularly great or have an especially wonderful effect and the really unscrupulous ones cut their stuff with ground glass to make it look more resinous and potent.

The only retail hash that's seen much these days is really poor quality "soap bar" that's cut with all sorts of rubbish and tends to only get bought by less knowledgable/experienced punters in small towns and rural areas. :(

  Yeah you're probably right!

I seem to remember reading how she couldn't afford health insurance or medical bills so really looked after her health, and was into homeopathy and self medication ..............
