MacRetro chat and rides thread

I'm just here to co-ordinate the events not invent them

Aye but it would be good to have some structure and your ideal for it. Decisive nature. Could I propose some official MacRetro events where we all try to come along, give plenty notice and try to encourage the sassenachs? I'll happily propose the 'no fuss' races and I'll try to sort out a bothy ride into the wilderness.

Those weeds are still there I see

What's the saddle? Brown seatpost is made of pure win! Orange and cream is absolutely superb, and the blue forks work in an irn-bru stylee sort of way.

Saddles a spoon as per  the forks were an after thought I had them lying around and stuck them on. The original idea was a pair of rebas which I had powder coated cream but the bushes got fooked in the process  still to get them serviced and fixed.
Ah, wondered about the blue forks - thought they were a bit incongruous without matching headset and seat clamp. But a nice set of chunky cream rebas would look mmmmmmmmm. Can they be salvaged?

Aye but I'm balking at the service costs as well as bush replacement:twisted: I'll get them done one day or keep my eye out for a set of reba lowers on the bay.

Looks great kaiser even better up close and personal. Brown saddles are yuk IMHO but I have a White one so WTF do I know? When do you get the brakes?

Glad you are getting there velo sounds like those boys punished you in engerlandshire. I would vote for Arran on the callander and a mr panda route as well as the cathkin braes, will try and see if I can get the route for the commenwealth course and see if it is worth it. And always welcome to have an Ayrshire adventure round my local trails but best leave that till summer.

Bothy rides into the wildernes are certainly a spring summer thing so loads of time for planning that. No fuss races :? thought you lot were off racing after Kielder.

The full AEC bit has not been explained yet but i think all big ride plans that might encourage Englanders to join us need to be funnelled through me to rides command. That way we can concentrate efforts onto not having event clashes.

So are you lot still up for racing and if so what formats ?

How often do you want organised rides ?

Do you prefer trail centres or old school or a bit of both ?

Do you want democracy right up to a final decision on any matter or do you want me and the Ken to order youse around ?

Another thing is HQ seem to want us to recruit more members, advertise via flyers in LBS etc. What are your thoughts ?

I do want us to ride in the Sidlaws so that just for once the Ken does not need to travel. He has proposed for next summer a ride and BBQ in Tentsmuir forest near St Andrews, not hugely technical as no hills but lots of track, trees and sandtraps

A Mr Panda route - undulating with NO DUCKBOARDS

Arran roady trip? Circumnavigation?

Further thought, as our big event there was that idea of the 'MacRetro Highland Games'.

I think Arran might suit that perfectly, Scotland in minature, ferry rides fun, we now have contacts on the island, the chips and cheese were fab, scenery and riding are good though further research needed. Easy enough to get to, two major airports close by, regular trains, secure mainland parking and members close enough for further reconoiters  Loads of accomodation choices from budget to expensive and even both a distillery and a brewery on the island.

Also a good venue for attracting retro roadies to circuit the island !

Think it worth pursuing ?

Yet a further idea, think up your rides ideas in depth if possible and on our Christmas meet on December 5th (last day of my 30's) we can argue out the best ideas, always easier with some beer to lubricate the brain

Anyone no coming please give us plenty of ideas ;)

Still have not organised myself to come up with our festive season meet but hopefully formulate that soon. Dates available between Christmas and Hogmanay that suit you should be supplied although 27th seemed reasonable as I suspect none of us are going to Mr. K's Cannock Turkey Twizzler.

See I'm trying to take my responsibilities seriously :D

Velo I don't think we need to change to much too soon , but if we had say 4 events a year where we made an effort to atend and get others to join I think this would be a good development on what we've been doing. How about a northern event and a borders one, maybe an overnighter around the 7stanes. I think these could attract people to travel and maybe get some more folk involved. Other than that we don't really attract too many from south of the border so clashing with other events isn't really a problem for us. As for Arran I'm unsure if peeps would travel. Again borders might be better.

A few folks are still interested in the racing at least the team format. Certainly the ken's spoken of it as well as me zig zag and gash
