You could easily buy my xjr and fill it with petrol on your income Ian

Problem is... I'd get laughed at down jobcentre.. The bigger boys in their Mercs, Porsches and Range Rovers are quite cruel in their mockery..

You dont know how factual that statement is Ian.....they pull up on double yellows and run in and out and then drive off in their four litre cars :x I have seen it with my own peelers ;)

A couple of points

1.Are you calling my wife a liar?.

I don't know your wife so how could I.

I do say that your claims about "pretty much every family on benefits she goes to see" are not an accurate representation of the reality for the vast majority of unemployed people. To portray them as such is ridiculous.

2. If you're so poor,

You calling me a liar?

how come you're on the internet? I'd be out trying to get a job myself.

I have to submit to interrogation from the dole office about my job seeking activities, not to you.

But since you ask... After having to cancel landline and broadband I now use a £10 per month wireless dongle. Undeserved extravagance you might claim but you should realise that most recruitment and job applications are currently done online. (not that that is the main reason, I am just a self indulgent hedonist really)

I ask again... How can anyone living on unemployment benefit possibly afford the lifestyle as you imply in your post? Perhaps your wife can tell you?

Having been in and out of JobCentres in my last town of residence and here for the last 9 years I've yet to see anyone with a posh mota....

The last time that kinda thing was seen (by me) was in the 89/90 in Barking (Gtr. London) after being made redundant.. people coming in to sign on, straight from the building site, parking their Sierra Cossies/Mercs/Jags outside
Indian women getting out of black cabs carrying just a suitcase, walking up to the counters, hand outstretched and the only English word in their voabulary... money.. spoken to the lad/lass behind the counter..

I know I can't.. and we have kids so are made. . . or something. :?

My plans are itinerant craftsman and repair man, I will be supporting me no one else, well me and my cat, but for now I am in part time education studying for a BA in Applied Art with a view to being able to call myself a metalsmith via academic and professional qualifications as it seems in society now people are only entitled to call themselves whatever dependant on a piece of paper proving training has been done. My employment history was aircraft technician, plant repair, marine repair and domestic appliance repair, I was also a silversmith, but I had a nervous breakdown leading to where I am now, a stage of life that has taught me a lot, I now have empathy for the challenged whereas I did not have before. Boot on the other foot, it is a helpful lesson to be understood.

You really should lay claim to the two sirloins in my fridge silverclaws.......if not I'm eating them.....both

I may be able to give you a little work from time to time, repairing silver pocket watch cases and small jewellery,oh and doctoring eighteenth century hall marks etc.......pm me.....(seriously) only kidding about the hallmarks

Silversmith. . . . cool..

I tried for about 5 years to get an apprenticeship with The Great Frog down Carnaby Street.. at least I think that was the name of the place.. :?

you can't make ridiculous statements like that based on second hand anecdotes without any explanation. (well you can but don't expect to be taken seriously)

How could I possibly afford all you describe on less than £65pw disposable income. To give you an idea of the effect of such poverty I can't even afford to have a bath as often as I would like or even to flush the loo every time I use it. After no2's only or I can't afford the water bills.

Perhaps I could manage easier if I didn't keep a bike on the road! (or eat)

Why don't you believe it? I take offence to what you describe as "ridiculous statements like that based on second hand anecdotes without any explanation" As I explained before MY WIFE GOES INTO THEIR HOUSES AND SEES THIS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME!!!!! IS THAT EXPLAINED CLEARLY ENOUGH FOR YOU?!?!?!

Or is it a case of 'because you can't do it, nobody can?' It happens, it's not nice, it's certainly not fair on honest unemployed people (like yourself?) but it happens! And quite a lot too!

I'm sorry if I've offended you, but you were presented with the facts and dismissed them out of hand!!!!

A man of your many talents should be able to find work without too much trouble. Have you thought about moving to another part of the country to find work?

I wished you lived here...I wouldn't have to work 90hours a week if you did, and you would have a good job!
