No definitely not,but alot of unemployed did spend money that was not theirs on numerous credit cards etc.And that did not help did it :?:

Don't know where you are getting your information about the amount of credit taken on by the unemployed but it would be infinitesimal in comparison to the amount of debt built up by the country as a whole. Totally insignificant in relation to our current status of 900 billion (£15,505 for every man, woman and child) national debt and no justification for state conscription of those suffering the most from those debts.

Again I am baffled by where you get your info. I don't think it likely that anyone unemployed would be able to obtain up to 30k+ of credit. I think your figures might relate to the employed.

For example... if I currently required credit I would be restricted to using loan sharks at rates of up to 800%.

Correct, I was refering to both employed and unemployed.

But comparing current interest rates as opposed to pre bubble burst rates is pointless.
All you needed back then was a note from your mum stating you were a good boy and promised to pay back 20k, and they feel over eachother to give you money.

There was a rumour in my village that even a labrador managed to secure himself 5k, and blew the lot on bonio's and poodles.
