They've moved on a bit from flying rickety old planes

They are very similar in style to a Pace RC-31 - so it's a "yes" from me - as they suit the build (black stem & bars) quite nicely.
Don't suppose you have a black seatpost to complete the look?

None that will fit unfortunately but I'll keep an eye out. I agree it would look better.

Had a bit of time to finally build this up today. Still needs a bit of fettling, the rear brakes squeal and the front mech won't change to the largest chainring but it was good enough for a quick ride. I still need to order some decals from Gill and I'm not sure about the v-brake rear, disc brake front combination. It's ridable now at least

I also have a single speed kit which I might try out at some point.

It's looking good, I think the forks suit it.
If you go for disc at the rear too then you can buy brake boss blanking plugs bolts to fill the redundant V-brake mounts. Hope (and others too) did some that acted as a cable guide for the brake hose.
