Yep it's now well on the way to how i want the look of the bike to be
Used the black Maximum and Reaction tyres off that donor 92 Firemountain i just got (if anyone wants a 20 inch 92 Firemountain frameset with a stuck seatpost let me know) with the black wheelset i've had for a while,black spokes is not everyone's cup of tea but i love the look for this bike. I'll be changing the silver chainrings to black to complete the look but now it's time to strip it all down again and splat it with green
My thought process behind that is i want the frame and forks, possibly the stem aswell to be the dominant feature of the bike and with everything else being black it will just jump out.

Now to clean the frame for a splat attack

Just acquired this 95 Kilauea in 95% original condition sourced locally to me. First time owning a 95 Kona and the fact it's a Kilauea is even better so i'm looking forward to throwing those gripshifts in the bin strip it down and give it a good clean then get out on it.

And saying i love my Konas especially the 89/90 bikes i couldn't be a die hard Kona collector without having the catalogues
I picked up the 90 one a few months ago and once i looked at it that just confirmed the idea i'd had in my head for a while about doing some tribute Konas, hence these ones.
Then two weeks ago the 1989 catalogue popped up on ebay and quick as a flash i'd hit the bin button, i had to have it lol
Which after finding that Explosif again has gave me an idea why not do the magnificent seven tribute bikes but with a twist and more than likely a big hole in my bank balance afterwards
So far i have two more willing Kona participants just need one more

Hello Spanky, I love your collection, especially your 1990 Explosif. You say you bought the '89 catalog, but this isn't the '88 catalog. The 89 looks different.

Bizzarely i sold it, after you wrote that i went looking for it but couldn't find it anywhere I was like eh where the hell has it gone,went to work and checked there and it was nowhere to be seen. Then i was like did i sell it,turns out i did on fleabay ages ago
The mad thing is when you wrote that i thought yeah i'll build it up, nope
Honestly i've way to many bikes and frames all over the place i forget what i have half the time
