It's 1995 Brodie eXpresso

Re: It is Brodie

Thank you guys.

It was not easy since I do not have workshop and do it all in very small kitchen :(
Still I am very happy with them and nothing beats the feeling after successfully finished job.

Still have lots to do and few things to be done;
Do you guys know if Dia Compe headset cups are made of alu or steel? Magnet doesn't work on it and I am planing on stripping the paint off of it and polishing them...

Today I made some progress;

The bike was disassembled and weight of the bare frame is quite nice considering it is 19" frame 1950g. Judging by catalogue weights it would make it 1995 frame since 19" sovereign from 1996. weighs 1745g.

Have you concidered it not being a sovereign? I have an identical frame, identical weight and size and it's an 1996 expresso.
I hope I've not ruined your day ;)
Expresso is a stronger, more usefull in everyday riding frame.

Re: It is Brodie

Haha I have considered it not being sovereign, I would not mind it being expresso and you did not ruin my day :)
As a matter of fact I haven't yet found way how to determine exactly what model and year it is.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Btw. I could not find SN on bottom bracket shell…is it supposed to be on drive side of bottom bracket shell?

Re: It is Brodie

I turned to headset today. I will probably place new headset once I have all other components gathered and bike assembled in mean time this one will most certainly do :)

loving the attention to detail ... keep up the good work :D

Thank you mate it means a lot to me especially because I just moved to whole other country and I do not have my tools nor place to do this. All work has been carried out in smallish apartment with my own two hands and trust me when I tell you that it is not pleasant to play with caustic soda in small apartments.

However, when I finish work it gives me a lot of satisfaction so I keep on doing it :)

Also I cannot wait for frame to be repainted so I can start putting parts on it; I think that is the point when all rubbing and cleaning really start to make sense ;)
