Love that yellow frame. Like the patina. Very nice project

Yes it is great and looks stunning! Considering I paid really low price for entire bike I really do not mind chips nor rust on it ;)

I am really looking forward to begin working on it, and I apologies for bad phone photos. Next week all photos will be taken with camera.

Re: It is Brodie

Today I made some progress;

The bike was disassembled and weight of the bare frame is quite nice considering it is 19" frame 1950g. Judging by catalogue weights it would make it 1995 frame since 19" sovereign from 1996. weighs 1745g.

After close inspection of frame I noticed a lot of rust and paint damage and it is more than patina. First plan was to touch it up and just place new decals but now I want to do full repaint and I made arragements with local painter and it will be done by the end of the month - same yellow color.

In meantime I decided to play with de-anodization, and since it was my first try I decided to do it first with seat clamp.

Before:

first it was to the caustic soda bath:

after the bath the time for sanding came. I did it with all grades of wet sandpaper from 600 to 2500 and finish it with autosol (well it was not autosol but swedish equivalent).

After:

Re: It is Brodie

Tomorrow or later today I plan to do the same with cranks which are also anodized in blue but they do not have as many scratches as the seatclamp had so I will try with the swedish autosol right after the bath.
