That's a nightmare, easy job to get right and just as easy to do a quick joey job with no harm - I fitted one last night with a hammer and a couple of blocks of wood (one with a hole drilled though it to mount the crown race)

My tool of choice for the crown race is the plastic tube of a paint roller its a perfect fit and the tube would get damaged long before the crown race
The race is so easy to split though so you still need to be careful

the plastic extension tube of the hoover is a quality bit of kit for banging the head race on, just dont get caught by the other half
