Any decent LBS would not have made such as bad a mistake as this.

I assume that they also did the extra work without informing you of the extra costs? Also bang out of order.

I'd expect a minimum of a full refund

They cut the head tube of your frame down without asking you?! Seriously? Tell me you meant the steerer tube. Still thats only slightly better.

This is exactly why I do all my own work on my bikes.

My sympathies bud. May I suggest you make a fuss when they are at their busiest (sat afternoon?), as you are more likely to get a 'stop making a fuss in front of the other customers' type settlement. If not, stand there, with frame in hand, showing everyone what they did.

At a minimum they owe you:

1. Refund for what you paid.

2. a replacment fork with an adequate length steerer.

3. Cost to have it color matched to you frame.

They screwed it big time. Hopefull this isn't an irreplacable fork.

As I am now officially a bike tech, this shames me to see but sadly it is not uncommon.

We get quite a few bikes from other shops that need further work or remedial work to botched repairs.

dig your heels in, go to trading standards and claim for as much as possible
