Inform other members of nice places to ride near you

My girlfriend and i are planning a trip to the Lake District and were planning in particular where we will go and ride each day, which got me thinking, there are so many members scattered all over the country why can we start a thread informing the other members of nice places near them to ride; for example i met Gravy Monster who was down my way and said about coming for a ride with me next time he is here but doesnt know any trails in the area at all because he is from Bristol. If i had posted a thread with some of the trails on he would have been able to go and ride the trail even if i wasnt there.

So to start i am going to the Lake District in May and Dorset in March so can someone start me off in the right direction, perhaps posting a map also using Ordnance Survey like the bike mags do?

I really think this could be useful and help the other members, what do you think? It could get a big post so perhaps when/if it does the moderators could set up a page with folders for different areas.

My example would look like this. This is a local trail near me that is a nice scenic and fast trail from Haywards Heath to Ardingly Resevoir.

I get what you are saying guys but google map is only going to give a rough idea. It wont be able to tell you about the route and where you can stop off or where a nice viewpoint is? Besides the members will know more detail about the hills, surfaces etc and perhaps even post some pics from the route, now that would be cool!

Singletrack have got their route guide thingy up and running again after the hack, not too much on it yet but its another resource, give a bit of background on each route rather than just a map; Trailguide

There are loads of routes round here, mainly based around the Long Mynd and South Shropshire. I've always meant to map them but never got round to it. It's great trail country (if a little steep in places).
Mind you, there are several available online if you search for Church Stretton.

I might go out with a GPS and camera this year and actually record some.

Maybe that could be a new years resolution.

This guys publishes what look like some good guides. Maybe he would do us a deal if John could chat to him about advertising  ;)

He actually sent me the guide directly post free and sent me the suppliment for free after I contacted him, but that doesn't mean he would do that for everyone. I think these sell in Waterstones too.
