ID Merida Matts Full Aluminum frame

Retro Newbie
Picked up this Merida Matts Full Aluminium for a steal at €20. Does anyone recognize the frame and model year? I have little luck finding any older 90s Merida Alu bikes at all. It has quite a bit of mismatched 90s parts, so that doesn't really help me in finding the year of manufacture.

I initially got it for spare parts, but I might use it since it's quite light and my size.

That was my bicycle in 1999-2000, not a pre 1997 frame. It was a bad choice, the frame weights a ton, more than 2kg but Aluminium was cool and I sold my nice steel frame to buy that thing. Mine was the Matts pro, but it was the same. The diference was that the pro was sold as "Frame only".

In my bicycle curriculum figrure as "error, poor choice". In the other hand it is indestructible. My intention was to race, so it was a bad choice but for other pourpose it is a good one and in that price point a bargain.

not exactly yours but pretty close
the Matts comp sx from 1997 catalog

Yours is maybe a bit older, your frame has still an holder for the cantilever brakes on the back. To me the V-Brakes are retro-fitted.
If cranks or rear-deraileur is original, it's roughly a 1993-96 bike, I would guess 95 or 96-ish.

Not a bad bike at all, just also not a collectors item.
