Also Aluminium expands much faster than steel, so some gentle heat will help, even boiling water.
Lacquer and paint are usually ok to 200⁰ if you want to get a blowtorch on it...

I drop the forks into the bench vice with scrap cardboard to protect them, a wooden broomhandle is ok to a point - you need to bear in mind the equal and opposite reaction to any force, and what that might do to the paint!
