Grip Shift ESP 900 - front mech question.

I have a pair of ESP 900 (x-ray) shifters and ESP 7.0 mech. I was going to use them on a build, but confusingly the left shifter (front mech) has multiple indentations (clicks).

I presumed that I had been sold 2 rights, but in looking/searching for a copy of a manual/instructions, which I failed to find, I noted references to "trim" and more clicks for the front mech. Can anyone explain?

Is it then correct the left shifter has more than 3 clicks?

Thanks. Yes I had seen that thread and it is where I got the reference to trim from.
What I don't understand (and I probably didn't make it clear) is how you set them up.
8 or so clicks for 3 positions on the front mech.
I struggle with the idea. Most shifters only have the 3 fixed positions.
