That color combo is just not my personal preference. Oddly enough, if it were a blend of blues or greens and yellows, or most solid colors, I'd want it.

I am curious why it hasn't sold before. I checked my "internet e-stay archives" and found the previous auction description I copied and pasted from July 31, 2010:

Paid $2450.00 New

Will be packaged in hard sided cardboard box (not typical bike box, bike shops typically charge $25-50 just for this type of box)

For sure it's the same bike. I copied the pics as well, but I don't remember what price the seller was asking (I just tried to attach the pics I copied from last year, but for some reason I can't).

Note the disclaimer that the BB "cannot be removed". Perhaps that's why it didn't sell before? Why else would such a desirable bike go unsold?

I have a candy purple Funk project bike (same size and e-stay geometry, but fairly used and a bit dinged up) that I spent QUITE a long time trying to remove the BB from. I soaked it in WD-40 and Aero-Kroil for several days, tapped on the wrench with a hammer, and even had to put a 3-foot cheater bar on the wrench while holding the bike frame with my other arm and one of my legs before it started to loosen up. Even then, it was a big-time CHORE to remove that BB without breaking something. When I got it apart, I saw that the BB was installed with what looked like dark red Loc-Tite thread epoxy.

I wonder if anyone else has had this experience? Is this normal for Funk bikes? Given what the seller said, I suspect that a similar procedure would be necessary to change the BB from this bike.

More info on this bike: I just remembered that I had emailed the seller about the BB last year, so I searched thru my emails and discovered that, although it's definitely the same bike, it's a different seller, so I guess it DID sell after all.

I'd buy it if I could afford it (but I'd want to repaint it. Shocking, I know).

Some say it's a sickness, whereas I call it an obsession.

Most of my bikes I will be rebuilding with their original factory paint intact, but I do have a few frames that I stripped and will be repainting, but only because they were in pretty bad shape. Some will get the total restoration and decal treatment, while others will get either powdercoat or I will paint them myself. I have some Dupont Chromalusion Purpleen and some PPG Vibrance Hot Wheels Spectraflame colors I plan on using, but only 1 color per bike. Nothing too psychedelic. ;)

Cool, you can open your own museum soon  Respect!

A friend of mine is planning to do exact that, he has over 350 bikes......... and isn't even on this website

hey

yep - this one is mine - picked it up last year.
I'm liquidatng pretty much my entire collection, which includes this FUNK
I've got another thread with the details of all the stuff to come...
It is a pretty rad bike, the paint is better in person (I'd still rather have it in that glossy metallic purple or maroon that they did...)
Cheers!
Braden
