Its ok that you have a water bottle w/ your glucose water, but he's right it looks odd and out of place. Ever see Peaty w/ a cage on his DH bike?

I don't really give a damn about peaty or if he uses a water bottle or not I suffer from an illness that can affect me during high endurance sports. I am not a millionaire so can not afford to have top level health care like these top athletes thus make me able to go without taking any medication while I ride. Top and bottom of it is if you are not going to vote for my bike because of a poxy water bottle then that’s up to you. If you don't suffer from diabetes then please don't comment about what bl***y peaty would do. I am me not Peaty and my bike has a water bottle to help me through rides I won't take it off to win BoTM it's hard enough having an Illness that will more than likely see me into an early grave without being told I should still take it of because Peaty has not got one on his bike.

I know i'm new here but Eddie's right so what if it has a water bottle on the bikes fantastic and i think people are being really silly over this :( keep the bottle on Eddie if you need it you got my vote for what it's worth.

I cant believe where this is going!

Slagging an IMMACULATE bike for having a bl**dy water bottle and cage on! For god sake. What is the world coming to

Cheers Jon first and last time for me i'm affraid

Righty ho.

Moving on, the votes have been pouring in thick and fast already. Early front runners include a selection which reflects the diversity of the site. The Slingshot, Lobo Clockwork are narrowly behind the Emery.

Keep the votes coming... :D

Interesting clash of opinions this month.

Personally (and this is my own, humble opinion), I think a lot of the bikes this run are rather lack luster and/or not really that retro.

I know there is not rule against what you can or can't enter. To each his own.

But to me, if you are to have your bike judged by your peers against your peers...step up with your best effort. Impress me.

Have a purpose in your build, have some direction. Take the time to get a good photograph of the bike. Tend to the details.

Road bikes, full suspension, disc brakes, slicks on an MTB, new parts on an old bike...none of these things will get my vote.
Dull, unimaginative builds won't get my vote.

So for everyone who gets all butt hurt when your bike or build comes into question...don't be sour about it. Accept the flawed effort. Or don't...it doesn't really matter.

Man, when a BOTY winner speaks, people listen :D

No I don't think so I think it is a very bias opinion some people just can't afford to go "totally retro" I think it is nice if all people can join in instead of being made to feel bad about there ride I really don't think anyone should say anything degrading about that persons ride you just don't know what it means to the owner or what there situation is.

I didn't say anything about the entry having to be an expensive, rare, or all top pick entry. I also didn't say anything about it having to be pristine.

Bike of the Month is, essentially, a competition. I know that 'anything goes', but lets try and raise the bar. Go above and beyond. Set the standard.

CTK's Univega is a good example. It's not top of the line or in perfect condition...but it's pretty era correct with the tan wall tires and cantilever brakes. And you know it gets ridden. Respect.

But when I see a road bike (on a retro mtb site), disc brakes, or 2007 parts on a bike...to me it lacks imagination.

It is a very bias opinion and I tend preach it from my soap box. I know that, so if you want to tell me to go to hell, thats ok too. ;)

I have my March BOTM entry all picked out.
