Having just discovered this advert on the back of a cycling book ( dating to around 1950 ) it is

hard to understand how this revolutionary design has been overlooked by the major bicycle

component manufacturers ? maybe the ' world patent applied for ' has discouraged them ?

Come on Shimano , At Last ! - ' The greatest invention since the pneumatic tyre ' What an opportunity

Do you think they ever sold any? 🤣

Probably!

There was a motorbike that had a sprung axle at the rear. Can't remember the name. Front might have been the same or with some sort of mono-sprung fork.

I cant see how the brakes will ever work with the rims with this design
Looks intriguing. I think it would work as the axle would still be secured in the fork drop out so the rim doesn't move anywhere in relation to the brake pads.
However the same effect would be achieved more simply by running bigger tyres at lower pressure. Unless there was no room for bigger tyres.
