Brother Big Bro needs to go on a diet

Most of the weight are on the wheels .... that alex rims weights a ton, 550gr per rim is too much. That wheel set has to be the first thing to change and them depending on what type os wheel set you choose, you choose the rest of the components. You are not going to left that wheels and start to buy Darimo components ( Seat post 90gr straight 400mm, handlebar 92 gr or a stem of 60gr )

Too much money to do a propper build, wheel set around 1,6-1.8kg will be a good start and them some reasonable weight for other components. A saddle of 150gr-170gr should not be expensive, a handlebar of 160-170 gr etc nothing radical light weight but nice.

Yes, the wheels need to go. They were only meant to be temporary. Any recommendations?

I haven´t got progress wheels, but in his website they have all the weights. https://en.progresscycles.com/wheels/mtb

I like the Evo, fair price and good weight. Perhaps you can find with some discount. https://en.progresscycles.com/wheels/mtb/evo
You can choose personalized decals colors to match the built.

Before the covid, chainreaction used to have good discounts in wheel sets like Mavic (the cross max SL with a big discount was epic) or fulcrum. I dont know if now do the same.

Hunt were on my list but I can't remember why I chose JRA over Hunt. It's a leap of faith because these light wheel sets seem to be based on chinese rims and hubs re-branded and built with crazy high tensions.

It properly hurt my mavic 501/ma2 frame of mind - but they genuinely are a techological improvement
