Brodie Sovereign

what did Paul do to my poor stem?!?!?

wasn't expecting getting this today, as our postal delivery usually doesn't run on the w/e. :? the missus says they've recently decided to have w/e service to meet holiday demands. so this is a nice surprise! :D

Niiiice Frank  Are you glad you did it now? ;)

yes… and no. but more yes than no.

this is one of THE most expensive stem i've paid for. aside from frames/complete bikes, it's up there with the higher priced component part purchases i've made.

to put things in perspective… buying the stem, plus the work done and shipping back/forth cost more than what i paid for either the frame or fork! granted i got both frame and fork individually at bargain prices, but still!!!

ah well, you only live once… so you gotta splurge now and then. ;)

test fitted the stem onto the build. had to go with another less metallic/bright RF blue bar i luckily have. the original bar i wanted to use had quite a wide bit of clamp marks and fade which showed using the brodie stem with much narrower clamp width than the syncros stem. i would have liked to have gone with the more vibrant RF bar but oh well. :?

i'll also have to replace the inner/outer front brake cable as the draw is a tad longer and what i had is a tad short now.

Loving the attention to detail, and obsessiveness as demsonstrated by the expense and hassle of stem mods just to be aboe to run a specific headset....

Stem looks uncannily like a Velocoity of the same era now, albeit with the input being slightly offset

swapped out the original quill wedge for a NOS light weight Brodie magnesium version. prob order a ti quill bolt as well to replace the steel one which has some rust at the top.

also finally got around to getting my reproduction artwork cut to vinyl decals. :D

also scored these bar-end extensions off ebay a few months back. i took a gamble, as they weren't listed as such, and having in hand now aren't marked as such, but they look to be Brodie bar-ends. I'm not 100% sure still, but from conversations i had with a few Brodie bar-end owners, they seem to be identical to ones that are marked as Brodie.

at this point, i'm undecided at this point if i will use them or not on my build. :?

Cool build Frank. Personally I'd go with a silver bar. I'd mock it up with the bar ends and see how they look/feel. If you like em give em a polish and use them.
