Brodie Sovereign

do believe i have a black one set aside somewhere i think. so i can choose between the two when i finally get this completed. though i think in the end the titanium will better balance the build, as there's also plans for white grips going on the blue bar.

guess i really should get my butt in gear and get to paint now that i have a matching mug to go with the bike! :D

Re:

If that gets it painted then I'm happy to have come second to you Frank

Re:

hard part is finding a local painter that's competent to do the work to my satisfaction which won't cost me an arm and a leg, which would make it hard for me to ride the bike after the fact!

Re:

no doubt, but i want a two colour repaint, and believe this deserves better quality finish. ;)

damn… long overdue update. :p

didn't even realize i never updated this thread when i got my ICR stem from the man himself - Paul Brodie in 2018 from his first of i believe two batches of custom made to order stems. i paired it with titanium stem bolt and original Brodie magnesium quill wedge. ended up selling off the original one i had been using which never quite worked for me, but never really had the option to get another up to this point.

over SIX years later, i FINALLY got around to installing the stem and swapping in the correct blue RF threaded Real Seal headset. :p

oh and YES, i CUT down the steerer on the gators and shortened it to the exact height it needed to be for the RF headset!!! o_O

i have to say i should have done this many moons ago. with the new stem, i feel it rides and handles MUCH MORE to my liking than i recall ever before. i've contemplated selling this project NUMEROUS times over the years just cuz it didn't feel right for me. but just from a quick test ride today, i'm feeling perhaps i should perhaps reconsider and hold on to this a little longer.

Glad you’ve persevered with this one Frank

thanks Adrian. but this has put me in a bit of a conundrum. i'm downsizing my collection and i earmarked this as one to go out the door. thought it be an easy/quick sale and max return.

but if i keep it, then i need to reconsider what i keep/get rid of. i'd also want to repaint as initially planned which costs more time/money which i'm not sure i want to invest. :p

Tough call Frank but it would be a shame not to finish it when you've come this far
