Bike for 6 year old girl (something decent)

SPESHMIKE

Old School Hero
Urgently required a nice bike for my 6 year old daughter, due to me changing her pedals and stripping the threads on her "disney princess" crank arm!

Let me know what you have.

Specialized Hotrock are good bikes, 20" wheels for a 6 year old?, or very nearly that size depending on height. I don't have one, just a recommendation, come up on the bay quite regularly.

I do (or rather my son) has a Hotrock. I'd go with an Islabike personally, thought the specialised is pretty good, though a bit heavy. If she's in to Disney Princess though I doubt any of these will cut it in terms of enough Pink (I had that problem with my daughter!)

If you can cope with a Mini or Junior BMX race bike, get one of those - 14 to 16 lbs in weight which is far better than any other kids bike.

My lads have a Specialized and a Gary Fisher respectively (There is only 11 months between them and little brother is as big as big brother).

Have mixed feelings about both bikes. They are fun bikes that have coped with the beating they have been given over the last 2 1/2 years.

The Gary Fisher (same bike as last years Trek which got recalled in the girls model) has much better adjustability but pays a huge weight penalty.

The Specialized is lighter, and slightly better spec.

Doubtless - the Isla bike is a better option. But kids don't always pick the sensible option.

Am currently on the lookout for 24" bikes as my 2 have grown out of their current rides. Best bet so far seems to be the Focus.

My daughter's grown out of her (pinky/purple) 20" hotrock, it's a year or two old, but in virtually new condition. it's the version with the white sus forks. If you're interested, I'll take a few pics?
cheers
(I'm trying to build up a dinky jump frame as a replacement, but it'll need to be pink....)
