Is it not irritating having to shift with your fingers as well as thumb? I'm so old school this is the first time rapidfire type shifters will be going on one of my bikes- although I've used ones on borrowed bikes and I have Ergopower on my road bike.

It becomes second nature incredibly quickly. I avoided them for a long time as my first MTB's were Kona and they resisted them for a long time.
 
I can't imagine just using my thumb for up and down shifts, I think that would cause me confusion, I went from thumbies to XT rapidfire and now actually prefer rapidfire.
