Another thouroughly miserable day at work, 2 hours of shovelling snow away just so i could lay under a camper for another 2 hours with cold water running down my arms. Overalls froze solid before the pressure washer did. Fell off the bike twice on they way home. Minus 12 by the time i got in. Had to go back out to get some food in. Bad headache, cold to my bones.
So, i have just cancelled all my appointments for the rest of the year. Christmas hols start now.
I ran that on the stumpy and it was fine. What about swapping Gil? Has he not still got the 1 1/8" ones? BTW did you see tintin had 1 1/8" ti forks for sale?
I'm fitting bona-fide 8 speed shifters to the Pahoehoe, and have a choice of the period correct-ish XT M739 ones which are wee, and reassuringly solid, and with thumb or finger changing depending on whether you are going up or down, or the kinda-interesting, and well bragged up SRAMs, which in my case is an Attack/X7 mix, and has the merits of thumb actuation always, so no crosstalk with the brakes, and cool indicators.
Both are predominantly metal and well made, and about the same weight. The SRAMs are 15g heavier (out of 250). Both click and clonk with the satisfaction level of a well damped cassette player door. Which is good.
Ugly things that always look like they should weigh a ton. I suppose the choice is whether you prefer a massive American corporation or a massive Japanese corporation.
