And today I did......

That is pretty light. What was the cost?

As an aside you know in gregorys girl at the start when they're watching/pervin the nurse from the woods. Well I used to live in there* and I'm convinced that was my room

* not the woods.

Now you are asking...

Frame (new) 75
Headset (new) 12
STX-RC chainset and mechs 26.50
Mountain LX thumbies and shifters 12
Tektro Vs (new) 15 and new levers left over
Thorn seatpost (new, shopsoiled) 5
Ritchey Logic saddle 4
KMC chain (new) 6
Shimano BB (new) 12
Pair of Mavic X221s on LX and Specialised hubs 40
Cables (new) approx 20
Shimano 11-28 cassette 13
Flat aluminium bars 4
Easton EA50 stem 8
Ritchey grips 4

Tyres tubes and pedals are not included in the £256.50 total

I really wish I hadn't worked that out.

Still, the wheels, cassette and chain are shared with the Kona, and I'd figured on a cost of £200 on top of that, so it's reasonably in budget.

Until I add the £300 quid for my time. But it's quality time.

So you lived in a nurses home! Cool...

Today I had a dodgy looking spy film type meet in a random car park in central Scotland.

And drove away with a new frame.

However this has thrown me into a complete quandary about current project(s).

The frame in question was described as pearlescent white. Very 1990's Audi I though to myself, but hey, it's only for my supposed singlespeed project so looks don't count.
However now I have it sitting in the house I really rather liked it. And stupidly put a rear set of polished pewter XTR V brakes on the frame to see how it looked, and it looks fantastic with them. And in addition I thought about the singlepeed thing and think that my Trek/klein frame would be better for it as it has rearward facing dropouts. And I can take my sweet time over it and make it as designerish as I want.

So to summarise the whole plan for the next couple of months is in th air and is now looking like becoming a pimped up geared pearlescent Rock Lobster with bright coloured bits, and a bright orange Klein SS with matt black bits.

Damn! And it all seemed so simple.

Go with the flow Taz, this is the best part of the build - if it feels right, it is.

Yep, and it means Gil-M is going to make twice as much out of me as The Rock Lobster must have decals to break up the pearly paint, should look the dugs I reckon.

A return to two wheels last night after my recent four wheeled adventures. Nice circular route along a the Wansbeck and Fontburn valleys until we picked up the Devils Causeway. Real oldskool route with tracks that were completely overgrown, deep river crossings, helter skelter descents and few interesting historical features along the way including a Victorian Bathing Grotto carved into the rock. Weather was superb once the wind died down and short sleeves were worn until midnight.
Found a cracking bit of rooty singletrack through some woods with a ripening corn field and spectacular view to one side. The woods were awash with the orange glow of sunset and the sweet smell of Honeysuckle and I was just thinking that was as close to heaven as you can get when my chain snapped depositing my family parts onto crossbar.
That aside it was a pretty perfect evening. Must do more though, I'm so unfit at the minute and spent most of the ride at the back with the ladies

its been hosing it down here
