They arrived next day and took me about 10 minutes to knock the old ones out and fit the new ones. The beauty of a singlespeed hub Now to strip the XT hub, regrease and service it. This is the rear XT hub I use on the front of my Pugsley, and it only really gets used on the rear at the Strathpuffer when I can have an option of a different gear. Its usally loaded with a 18 tooth cog but I am thinking I may get a fixxer and convert it to a fixie hub.

Nice day here so went from Morar to Tarbert (Loch Nevis) and back on the non-retro. Lovely run but a bit gnarly for one of my ineptitude. That said the pushes are short (20 or 30 yards) and represent a practical alternative to pain and injury in a remote place. Cracking trip. Unfortunately Mrsthefish couldn't make. Met a local fellow on a high spec full-sus Yeti. In his late 40s and only started biking in 2011 but he's now enduro racing. Scary what he could ride up. And down. I'll put it down to youth. A grand nice day out.

Aye. Was brilliant. I thought about taking the old Explosif but sore head this morning (don't ask) suggested some bounce might be a good idea.
Bike is Genesis Altitude 10. Rockshox SIDs. Bit of a mix of bits but rides well. Ebay frame and the rest gathered over time.
Where did you live before Caithness Jamie? I'd be loathe to leave the west Highlands now.

When I first came to Scotland I lived in the hills behind Barcaldine, just north of Oban for about 5 or 6 years or so. Moved north in 2007, first to garve on the way to Ullapool, where work was located and then onto Caithness.

The beauty of Caithness is the sky. Relatively flat so you can see most of it, and all the wind farms.
Different vibe from the West Coast, although rural Scotland is still rural Scotland.
Can't be bettered.
