Am I so out of touch with modern cycling?

Pretty much every topic has been done...

Ironically, everytime an AI bot starts a subject we all moan and shut it down! Should we employ one to generate new conversations...got to be better than a bunch of moaning old farts banging on about the old days, why nothing will ever beat 3x8 speeds and why square wheels are better than round.
A 3x8..... must have missed that. Is it really new? Is it a flannel shirt brand? Ohhhh no I bet it's a bollocks hugging, nob wrapping, ass crack sweating new lycra with a pre-moist chamis. Am I close?🤔

"old farts banging on about the old days, why nothing will ever beat 3x8 speeds and why square wheels are better than round" that kinda sums these threads up perfectly :) Love it.

Second paragraph of the OP talks about not acknowledging other cyclists.

You’re right though, topics such as this have been done to death and I would like to see an end to them.

More tribalism is the last thing anyone needs in any area of life at the moment. I’m just happy to see people out on bikes, no matter the colour of their frame or adherence of their clothing 🤷

In another forum belong to there are a bunch of stickied threads for those that want to moan....ahem...debate the same old stuff. Any new threads/posts relating to them are simply merged with them. I can think of a few candidates:

I hate/I love ebikes
I hate/love new bikes
I can't sell my old tat to anyone
Old tat has got too expensive
I hate young people
I hate this kind of cyclist.
I am better than everyone else at my local bike park despite riding a retro bike.

Please remember I did say 'this pillock' for category number 4 - which is, er, me

No mention of likes or dislikes, just an observation of what I saw.

This thread makes me laugh out loud.

Unfortunately threads where everyone says how great everyone else is and aren't they all having a fantastic time make me want to retch.

I didn't choose this set of reactions, and i think i try to be nice to people.

The definition of a Boomer is someone born before 1964, I'm ten years late for that so sit firmly in the next lot.

What I do know is that I have every sympathy for my grandmothers generation, they oversaw the huge changes post war and here we are, 80 years later watching as the world as we know it disappears, possibly for ever

One moment we're nipping next door to make a phone call or to watch a big colour TV, the next minute I'm typing on on a miniature OLED screen on a website website that has users across the world

I made no dig at anyone but the word of cycling has changed markedly in the last few years, leaving us old guard coughing slightly in its dust.

Any other interpretation of the post is purely from the readers own overactive imagination
