Am I so out of touch with modern cycling?

I was out today...chilly....combat trousers (with cycle clips) and an old knackered goretex jacket.....nobody spoke to me*, even though I waved to 3 cyclists.

*Except the nice lady on a horse....

Nice boomer thread. Always a little cringe and embarrassing - but surely fun to read.

Vibes innit

I wear the same gear most of the time, all non cycling specific. The one nod to cycling are the leggings, but they are practical general wear too. My general wear errs on cycling friendly though, as I've always needed to jump on a bike as and when.

I am steering towards the 50s. I come from baggy neon clothing and combat military trousers and large flanell shirts for biking at the beginning of the 90s.

Nowadays for a proper workout and spin, I wear my all black (omg!) GORE BiB tights and functional jackets. And I never ever want to wear anything else anymore.

These rants always come from boomers that cant cope with today or progress. Presumably never had a proper workout in awesome bike specific clothing in their lives.

I recommend chilling at home after a good spin and putting on the dark side of the moon - but only on a proper vinyl player!

(I already grabbed my popcorn for the following answers)

I suppose it all comes down to how interested you are in what other people do and what they think of you.

Personally I don't really care. I'm doing my thing, they are doing theirs....its just pity people are so impolite and self obsessed.

As for following trends...as mum said "I suppose he stuck his head in the gas oven you would do it to"

Im happy in combat trousers (or shorts in summer) normally with cycling shorts under tbh, and if that makes me a 2nd class cyclist to some well....
