Advice required regarding disk brake and hubs

Hi guys
I had a question regarding disk brakes and hubs
Now I’m not clued up on these as every bike I’ve built and have dealt with has had cantis, hydraulic rims or V’s -
I have a Raleigh RSP with full sus and want to put hydraulic disks on it - would I need a hubset with disk mounts or something? Which means I can’t use say a M950 hub with disk brakes?
Are these hubs universal? I.e. would I be able to say bolt on a Hope disk brake or a Magura on the same hub?
Apologies as I’m clueless so any simple explanation and advice with some examples would be most appreciated

You will need disc specific hubs. In the past there have been various pcd's and number of bolts, but generally speaking, most hubs you find will be the regular 6 bolt or centre lock.
You will have a wide choice of rotors available in either option.
When you decide on the size of disc you want to run, you will then need to get the correct adapter for the calliper mount, that is to say, calipers don't change depending on size, just the adapter does so it is easy to change size.

First off I'm asking - Does the frame have disc mounts

Yes = Fab
No = Not so fab, but A2Z make a thing that bolts onto your dropout so is kind of a fix, or Hope do a caliper that bolts to the frame, basically providing its own mount.

The latter system pops up now and again on ebay, quite frequently, though the price seems to vary. One sells for little while another breaks the bank.

Frame sorted - the wheels. These obviously need to be disc compatible, as im sure youre aware. If theres no disc mount, then you cannot use those wheels/hubs.
Plenty of models available especially shimano, but be aware shimano uses cup and cone bearings(as you know) but not everybody selling on theirs was too clued up about having them perfectly set.
Hope(no surprise ) are easy to service, and very popular in the UK so plenty about always. Hope 6 bolt is preferable over the earlier 5 bolt, just for ease of buying rotors*

*If your frame has no mount and you intend to go the Hope route with their bolt on caliper, the rotor for that is 155mm, which you wont get in 6 bolt format, only the older 5, which obviously means youre looking for older hubs maybe too much hassle.

The bike is this one and I guess has front mounts for disks on the forks but not sure about rear - I’ll have to check tomorrow

Thanks for the advice - so I could in theory put Magura Julie or Louise on a pair of Hope hubs?
Any links to other options apart from Hope? (97 up to 2000)

Hope hubs are great and compatible with any 6 bolt rotor, but I guess it all depends on your budget. I looked at adaptors for my parkpre, and decided against them. First went cable disc on the front and V rear, have now swapped that to hydraulic front, and an old natural hs33 on the rear, so I have good braking, similar feel at both levers, and haven't messed up the rear with adaptors and stuff if wasn't designed for

Just had a look at a Raleigh catalogue from 1999 and another from 2000 - the full sus bikes with F and R disks use Mavic Crosslink Disk wheels - things are clearer now! Thanks for your advice and help - always appreciated! Now I’ve got to find out whether these have rear mounts.
I guess a Mavic disk wheelset or Hope - I would like to go with magura brakes to match the forks - what’s diff between Clara, Louise and Julie? And would the mavic or Hope wheels be compatible with these?

Not really, I mixed, matched and painted the magura so lever and caliper are all black (except for the red lever adjustment knob), and bought just a basic Shimano disc brake (alivio ir similar I think), as the lever shape and size is very similar to the magura, so they look and feel almost the same
