I found an old bontrager titec handlebar on ebay. It's a bit worn out. I need to have new decals made and respray it but the restoration continues. Hopefully I will have a syncros cattleprod stem by the end of the week too.

I was tired of looking at that XT rear derailleur on my bike but haven't found a XTR M900 yet. I decided to pull a M953 derailleur out of my parts bin and clean it up a bit. Can someone please explain this derailleur to me? It swings in the opposite direction of any other derailleur that I have ever used. Under full tension it puts the chain on the smallest cassette ring rather than the largest. Why is this? Will it cause me any problems?

Thats a Rapid Rise mech.They made them up to 2007.Most dont like em but I quite like them.

It's really just a place holder until I source a M900. It will be odd to shift backwards. It just seems really strange. Thanks for the input. Did these originally came with a shifter specific to them?

No,they didnt make a dedicated rr shifter as it was only the mech that was different.I have a newer M960 rr set up that I find excellent.
