93 Rockhopper Shimano Cues compatibility advice.

As far as I know, the 9 speed cassette on your second hand wheels might not be compatible with the CUES chain/derailleur? (Or at least so says Shimano)

I looked into cues briefly and decided against it as it seemed a bit strange, 10sp needing 11sp chain for example. Other drive train options are simpler and arguably better. If you want 10sp I've got a fair bit ranging from deore to xtr, and some 11sp stuff as well. All should work with a 9sp freehub too. It has worked for me on various builds, some is only surplus in my stash due to growing children and bike upgrades.

I'd just be inclined to source better components, perhaps second hand to be honest. You can build a 9 or 10sp XTR based drivetrain for not too much money. It might just be me, but high quality components win every time.

this. Got an XT 9 spd derailleur for like.. US$10 from a redditor last week. It's well over 10 years old and still smooth as baby's butt.
