'87 Raliegh Maverick Pro 531 Ilkeston SBDU GVOD

I really like the original scheme, yes it's a bit dull, but it's unique and apt.

Cool to find an Ilkeston built one though.

Re:

Now bear with me on this one I am not suggesting exactly the same.... More of an homage as both bikes were produced in the Raleigh Centenary year 1987

Re:

Missed this. Do you think the MT 60 is original to the frame then rather than the suntour kit? and I take it its still got the super long (even by eighties standards - we've already had this discussion) 19" chainstays?
I have the earlier brick red Tange F&F in the garage that you could get good images of the decals off if you wanted. They are under lacquer rather than stuck on. The head badge is a transfer too rather than a big thingy.

Am going to do some measurements over the weekend sometime. I think its designed a little better than some of the earlier stuff with the drive through stays.

As for the groupset, I would imagine that it would be a replacement - or is it? Late build frame, brand new Deore for the '87 model year making the Suntour look a little out of place? Couldnt say. The previous owner said that he'd bought it second hand from the original owner who had 'upgraded' the spec at some point.

I could go mad and make it a catalog correct super perfect build but I just dont have the patience or frankly the budget. I do have a good start though. Mavic Oxygen M6 rims, full Deore MT60 (if I ever source a bloody left hand crank arm!)

So we have:
