So it’s been a while with me kinda waiting for a deal to come through. Today was the day. The 24” frame is gone to a new home and in return I took possession of this 1965? Scwinn. Little bit of a start over but nonetheless here we go again.
I’m working on its brother. I got most of the paint off today. Yours is after 1960 because of the chrome trim on the fork crown. Mine is a 1955, but the frames are the same.
IMG_4217.jpeg I haven’t started on the fork yet. IMG_4216.jpeg
Mine was in about the same condition as yours. It’s amazing how much shallow pitting there is, even under where there was still paint. IMG_4218.jpeg

What’s your plan for yours?
I’m giving it to Imlach on this forum. I had an identical one and I also gave that away. I have 34 bikes and parts to make another 10 or so. No storage for mor so if I find a frame or junker for $25-30 i buy it and fix it up and give it away. These are too new for my taste, but they are fun. I also gave this one away this summer. I can recall 9 similar ones that I also gave away after rebuilding them. IMG_3870.jpeg 70715651173__7B065972-C994-4FC7-A20F-53EBCC82E2F2.jpeg

Wheelset was shot. The Bendix rear hub will be saved and rebuilt. Not much time to get at this one yet as I’ve got 3 other builds on the go🤷‍♂️. Can someone tell me if the chrome shoulder cap on the is removable?

If you need a longer seat post most of the ones that are available are thin walled and easily bend. There is one type that is thicker but I don’t trust that one either. I file a gas pipe smooth, slather it with a lubricant of JB Weld and hammer it inside the post. It won’t bend. IMG_3875.jpeg IMG_3876.jpeg
For the thicker one I insert a section of cut off stay, glue that in and while the glue is still not hardened I hammer in a piece of re rod that has been covered with glue. IMG_4219.jpeg IMG_4225.jpeg IMG_4226.jpeg
These posts will hold up to heavy klunking.
