1996 Rocky Mountain Anniversary Blizzard

Blizz

Retro Guru
I've always had a THING for the 96 Blizzard.
I rode one as a commuter to school and work for years. I had it 1st set up as a fun trail bike, then a rigid commuter with slicks, then a winter bike, then a single speed pub bike, then back to a trail bike. It was all great until I accidentally left my garage open one night back in 04 and it was gone the next morning

Ever since, I've been on the look out for another one, and over the past 3 years I've been pretty lucky to come across a few, but all had some issues with them (rough condition, dents, decals missing, rust, too small, etc)...until this summer someone was kind enough to contact me with a near mint condition Blizzard he had stored indoors for years. I quickly made a deal and was pretty excited to bring it home that day! :D

Over the past couple months I did some minor touch ups on it and a good clean and it looks almost as good as new
All original parts except for the saddle. Enjoy!

nice Blizz! jealous/envious. had one briefly but was too big and sold on. been on my radar since then. saw one that looked mint/stock at the annual Ride for Heart event in Toronto. kicking myself for not inquiring who's it was or even taking a photo.

don't recall onza brakes being stock component. :?

Thanks Rocki! I'll let you know if find another or if that 17.5" comes up for sale again.

I know that feeling about missing out / not inquiring about a bike...the one and only Rocky Titanium I've seen in recent years was someone riding one around a campsite in BC on one and I was in the middle of a interval workout...the smart thing would've been to stop or go back afterwards. Never saw it again :(

I not 100% sure about the brakes. I know the catalogue says WTB brakes, but I don't recall seeing any with those. I had another 96 Blizzard that also had the Onza brakes, but all others I've had were upgraded to v-brakes.
For some reason, I thought some came stock with Dia-compe 987s as well. Anyone else remember?

 now that looks nice, and a bit too clean

Im sure the '96 Blizzard i have came with WTB brakes though.
