i have the option to, but not really wanting to do yet another thumbie build. but as i can, thought i'd throw them on to see. i had briefly forgotten about the set of Grafton levers i recently got :roll: and i also have set of Avid Ult SDs. also as shutter mentioned, could do m900 STIs which i have on hand as well. need to have a think about this… thoughts?

like i said, i'm not fond of the m900 shifting feedback, and hunting for a set of m900 pods and perches would be a PITA. and i don't fancy separating a set of pods from levers. :p might as well use a full set of m900 STIs :roll:

but yes… it's an option.
 
Hmmm well if you don't mind mixing groups m950 shifters would go well with the Ti bar and grafton levers... Just remove the indicator windows

But since you like grip shifters maybe that is a good way to go?
 
no indicators on sl-m950. and the colour on the m950 pods isn't that much different than the m739.
 
I'd go M900 lever/shifter even though the RF+ are a bit pants.
I would also forget about using them funny spring straddle cables and fit good old normal canti's and then no need to bodge the brace to fit.

That brake lever on the left in the picture (right side of bike) look a bit naff, cheap and choddy.
The one's on the right (left on the bike) look nice though.

you're calling the Grafton re-entry levers "naff, cheap and choddy"??? :shock:

anyway, we'll return to the cockpit details at a later date as i want to get back on track to something more important…

… and we have SUCCESS!!! :D

now on to stripping the gold ano off to get the brace to a more fitting silver. ;)

some gentle but firm persuasion! ;)

as you see from earlier photo, i could mount the outer bolts but not inner. but i noticed the inner holes not lining up vertically as well as horizontally, it was off at an angle. that didn't make too much sense as the holes should be all on a parallel plane even if they don't line up.

so from some talking and advise from megaguy, i put in a front hub into the fork and secured it tightly. that brought the fork holes fairly parallel with the brace holes as they should. but the inner holes still didn't line up for me to get the bolts in.

so i gave the opposite a try. removed the outer bolts and tried to mount the inner ones. i had to lightly but firmly push out the legs from each other to align the inner bolts. then alternately screwed in each bolt a little at a time to keep them going in straight. once done the outer two almost lined up, so i carefully screwed them in slowly but firmly. :D

i may take the brace off and use a round file to take off a little off the opposite outer sides of the pair of holes on each arch just to relieve some of the stress and make it a tad easier to get the bolts in and out.
