1993 Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt

need to tap/chase the threads on the NOS cranks. I can only thread the ti spindles about half way in and then it binds to a halt. pedals with steel spindles are fine.

also been meaning to order some black ti chainring bolts to replace the silver ones.

I have a set of park pedal taps (left and right threads) you can borrow if you want... Only used them once and they work well

Any time, I found these in my bin, they are free if you can use them?
:D

FINALLY got around to rebuilding the fork. went with the fork oil i already had and all seems good. with it re-assembled, i had a better look at how far off the holes on the replacement XC500 brace were. seems the outer holes line up and i hopefully just need to make some "minor" modifications to the two inner holes. if all goes well, then all that will be left is to strip the gold ano off the brace.

will i was at putting everything back together, i started toying with the idea of using the Altek canti brake levers, and a set of XT 8-spd shifter pods.

looking good! I wouldn't even bother with those holes...it will look off if you file out the brace... just remove the brace, strip it, then take two bolts, saw off most of the threads (leave 1mm), glue them into the brace with contact cement, and then you are golden... the outer bolts will hold it to the fork

Edit... I would take those atak levers and XT shifters off... that frame screams M900

Hmm, that will make an already noodly fork even more flexy. Dremel makes nice high speed cutters, maybe this one: http://www.dremeleurope.com/gb/en/ocs/p ... ter-5,6-mm You can use it to enlarge the hole, I used it on a gravity dropper post, works like a charm.

True.... my bad... better try and get a real bolt in there...

no worries, i wasn't gonna listen to shutter's advise about not installing the second set of bolts  gotta see if my dremel set has one of these high speed cutters.

as for m900, i'm not a huge fan on the feel of the shifters, the m739 are better with much more responsive with positive clicks. but perhaps i'll go with x-rays again as the Altek (not Atak as the hubs) looks to be designed for gripshifts.
