1992 Marin team issue - restored and ridden

I’m rarely in favor of catalog spec builds. I suggest building it in way that provides you with pride and peace of mind whilst riding. Maybe something like M950 groupset and early Manitou fork.

Either way, I have this pile of Marin Lite I pulled from a ‘94 Hawk Hill that I don’t want. If shipping from SoCal is reasonable, $25 will take it. Rough for a show bike, but it’s Marin. Ihave 1 Marin Lite tire too.

Does it say “750g” on the side? If it doesn’t it won’t do for me I’m afraid.

But what would shipping for a fork be? I imagine it would be a bit costly.

Anyway:

Part 2 - it’s a bit of a mess (oh, and NDS crank seized I think)

Apart from that, everything else came out with ease, bearings still very smooth in the wheels, and will give the xtr kit a nice hot bath tomorrow.

Seatpost came out with some wd40 and some elbow grease 1942CCBD-9C58-446D-87CE-CF97B0F2D7DF.jpeg

however, the frame has its rust spots and a few scratches, but I think it’s alright actually. The foil and water (also tried wd40) method didn’t work though.

Can anyone enlighten me on some better methods?

Im pretty sure it’s not clear coated. Anyway have the xtr stuff a good scrub today, rear mech looks good. Front needs some work. But the cassette and shifters came up like new😎

I’ve pm’d some other users who may know some tips on polishing the frame.

Oh and may have sorted some tyres
