they did a red front end, black rear end that also looked cool.

Paintjobs...they did the Supercaliber red black yellow fade which was the most photographed one I remember. I remember the red front / Black rear and a Grey front, Black rear as well

I don't remember seeing a blue one before though.

It is actually purple. my camera is kinda cheap and does not show the color very well.

I'd go with the Red Front Triangle, Black Rear Such an iconic bike..

I'd also go with rigid forks, just to keep it original etc. XT, Fisher Fattrax tyres.. I have an original black Fisher stem [135 x 1 1/4"], black handlebar and seatpost from '88/'89 if you're interested?
