amazing that a steel frame can last that long. Testament to the maker.
The forward-facing seattube slot is designed to help keep wheelspray from seeping down through the seattube and settling on the BB shell. I wonder if the forward-facing slot was a Salsa innovation.

And it won't hurt to have a rider who doesn't drip bucketloads of sweat all over the toptube/bars (or is fastidious about wiping the sweat away after a ride).

Re: 1982 Salsa Scoboni #6 Build Restoration

This bike is still calling me!

great thread to re read on a topic worth debating.

I am glad you chose not to repaint (at least so far!).

Re:

Not going to repaint... Final decision.

Building it back up when I have more time... I've kept it next to my desk for the last year and am falling in love w the paint.... It's the bikes identity.

Excellent, excellent choice! The interview alone explains how much history and mileage it's seen. Add in it's just a cool colour combo and you've got a cracking machine.

Thanks for making the video. Terry seems like a nice chap.

Re: 1982 Salsa Scoboni #6 Build Restoration

This build has been on the back burner for too long! We have made the decision to keep the paint in tact and build it back up with the correct bits to bring it back to it's originally intended build.

Just ordered the chain! Next is cassette, headset, grips.

Anyone here have a lead on some black Oakley 3 grips?

Glad you kept the original paint , nice patina :) .

Me too! I am thankful I waited over a year before moving forward with the build. I would of regretted painting this one. You guys were right.... I admit it!
