1" Aheadset question for 1991 Cannondale frames

GMC

Retro Guru
I'm planning on changing my 1991 Cannnondale SM500 frame from a normal threaded 1" headset to a 1" Aheadset.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what 1" Aheadset's work well with the Cannondale frames?

What stack height should it be?

Cheers

There shouldn't be a problem using any brand of ISO 1" A-headset with your Cannondale. I've used Syncros, Stronglight and Campagnolo Record and Chorus. The latter are road models in theory, but they work fine for off-road use.

The stack height's not a critical dimension with threadless systems. As long as your fork's steerer is long enough, you can fit any headset you like, put the stem where you want it to be, and make up any difference with spacers.

All 1" treaded headset will work.
Preference with ritchey because his headset was on the SM 1000 and 2000
If you can find a shimano, mavic or… Chris King, it's ok and fine, but be carefull about the lengh of the steerer

1" Aheadset

Cheers for the replies guys!

Think I'm going to go with a 1" BBB Turn Around Aheadset for it, as they seem to be well recommended for the money, retail around about £30.
